Since my mom passed, I sometimes wake up thinking I can call her, only to remember she’s gone. It hits hard. What helps me is sitting quietly and letting myself feel that sadness, then writing down the memories that make me smile or even laugh. It doesn’t make the pain disappear, but it makes it more bearable.
