☕ What do you do when the house feels too quiet?

To be honest, I usually put on some old records or make a second cup of coffee I don’t need. Sometimes I’ll just sit with the dog and talk nonsense to him — he’s the best listener in the house now. It’s not exciting, but it’s peaceful. And somehow, that’s enough.

Every evening, like clockwork. Rain or shine. I guess it started when I used to walk the kids to school or take the dog out, and now it’s just... me. But there’s something calming about it. Actually, yeah. I’ve got this growing folder on my phone filled with sunsets, coffee mugs, and blurry shots of my dog sleeping in weird poses. It’s kinda silly, but I like looking back at them. Makes me feel like I didn’t let the day pass by without noticing it.

Honestly? It was when I took a solo hike last fall. Just me, the sound of crunching leaves, and the wind in the trees. No phone, no emails—just quiet. Saturday mornings. I make pancakes—same recipe every week. My daughter, even though she's a teenager now, still comes into the kitchen sleepy-eyed and grinning. We sit, we eat, we talk about silly things. That hour? It's my anchor. Everything else can wait.

There’s this photo of my dad teaching me how to fish when I was ten. We didn’t even catch anything that day. But I remember the calm, the patience in his voice, the way he handed me the rod like I was holding something sacred. That moment made me want to be that kind of dad.

⏳ What do you wish you’d done sooner?

I wish I’d stopped waiting for the “right time” to take care of myself. I always thought everyone else came first—kids, wife, work. But taking time to read, walk, even talk to a therapist… it changed everything. I’m showing up better now—not just for them, but for me too.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 How do you juggle work and family life?

It's all about setting priorities. I work hard, but I make sure to dedicate quality time to my family. Weekends are our time, no work distractions allowed. It's a tightrope, but it's worth it for those moments together.

A quick run or working out helps me clear my head. I also unwind by watching a show with the family or reading a book. Little things like that reset me.

I tell them to always be kind, work hard, and learn from mistakes. Life isn’t about perfection; it’s about resilience and staying true to who you are.
