😅 Juggling Kids and Deadlines

  • 0
  • 0

I’m 38 and lately I feel like I’m spinning plates. Working from home means I’m in back-to-back Zoom calls while my two kids need help with virtual school. By afternoon, I’m frazzled juggling deadlines and snack requests. I once promised my daughter we’d bake cookies—and then stayed on a call until she fell asleep. My partner’s schedule shifts every week, so I’m often solo parenting evenings. Has anyone found a realistic rhythm that doesn’t leave you exhausted by bedtime? Would love some practical tips or just solidarity from fellow moms in the same boat.

I’ve been there—last year felt endless with sprints at work and homeschooling. What helped me was carving out two “no screens” zones daily: one mid-morning for 15 minutes of playtime, and one right after dinner for family check-ins. I kept a simple whiteboard by my desk to track the kids’ must-dos and my top two work tasks. It sounds rigid, but having that visual guide cut down interruptions. Also, I swapped one weekly meeting for a short walk. Fresh air reset my head and let me show up more present. It’s not perfect, but those small routines kept me sane.
