Stopping your Pug from jumping on counters takes patience and consistency. First, make counters uninteresting by removing food or tempting items. Use the “off” or “leave it” command when they try to jump, and redirect them to a toy or treat on the floor. Reward good behavior when they stay down. Block access to counters with baby gates or keep them out of the kitchen altogether. Give your Pug plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to curb boredom, which often leads to counter-surfing. Avoid scolding, as it might make them sneakier. Consistency and positive reinforcement will help break the habit!
